Staff Accountant
Our client is a not-for- profit workforce development organization operating in operation close to 40 years. They are devoted to funding training necessary to get individuals into the workforce and keep them there. They are currently seeking Junior Staff Accountant to join their team in Midtown Manhattan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Bank reconciliation, month-end closing, journal entries
- Work with grants & budgets
- Process with detailed review and notations of vendor invoices and payments, matching purchase orders and receipts accurately and promptly
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate invoicing and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile, verify, and review accounts payable transactions to ensure financial policies and procedures compliance
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve payment-related issues
- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
- Maintain accurate and organized records of accounts payable transactions
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and company financial audits
- Follow up on overdue payments and resolve billing issues
- Reconcile customer accounts and update records
- Prepare and maintain receivables reports for management.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Experience using QuickBooks and other accounting software
- 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grants management
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel is a must
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Not-for-profit accounting experience, a plus
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to lead projects and work well with team members
COMPENSATION:
· Temp-to-Hire
· $70,000.00 plus fully paid benefits when converted to “permanent” employee
