SUMMARY
The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing digital communication strategies to enhance the online presence of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and achieve its communications goals. This role will support the work of WELS Communication Services and WELS Information Technology areas and will be responsible for the planning, creation, and management of all website content, ensuring it aligns with the company's brand and user experience. This role will play a key part in driving website traffic, engagement, and lead generation. This role will also provide support for social media, content marketing, email marketing, or other engagement strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Website and Content Management:
- Content Strategy & Planning:
- Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy for WELS websites, including video posts, blog posts, articles, ministry program descriptions, landing pages, and other website copy.
- Plan and manage a website content calendar, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery.
- Content Creation & Editing:
- Write, edit, and proofread high-quality website content that is engaging, informative, and optimized for search engines (SEO).
- Collaborate with WELS area of ministry representatives, WELS Communication Services team members, and WELS Technology staff to ensure seamless integration of content with website design and functionality as well as website imagery, videos, and other multimedia content.
- Website Management:
- Manage the website content management system (CMS), including content updates, revisions, and publishing.
- Ensure website content is accurate, up to date, and free of errors.
- Monitor website traffic and user behavior using analytics tools to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular website audits and make recommendations for enhancements.
- SEO & Content Optimization:
- Implement on-page SEO best practices, including keyword optimization, meta descriptions, and internal linking.
- Monitor and analyze website performance in search engine results pages (SERPs).
- User Experience (UX):
- Work with the WELS Communication Services and WELS Technology teams to optimize website content for user experience.
- Ensure website content is easy to find, understand, and navigate for users.
- Brand Consistency:
- Maintain brand consistency across all website content.
- Ensure website messaging aligns with WELS brand voice and values.
Other Duties:
- Participate with the Communication Services Team in the development and implementation of a social media strategy and plan.
- Assist Communication Services and WELS Technology with the integration of a new customer relations management system.
- Attend Communication Services’ weekly staff meetings, brainstorming sessions, added value meetings, and other meetings or events as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- An active member of the WELS/ELS.
- A deep commitment to the mission and theology of WELS and an ability to apply that commitment in the performance of daily responsibilities.
- Understands and demonstrates Christian values.
- Three years of experience in website content management, content marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in writing, editing, and proofreading high-quality content.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
- Experience with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and SEO tools.
- Familiarity with basic html code and web-based applications including WordPress.
- Proficient in PC-based hardware/software systems and Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, and Font Management Systems.
- Proficiency in using a content management system (CMS).
- Proficiency in using social media management tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with social media marketing.
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Experience in using a customer relations management system such as HubSpot.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
