Job Title: Sales Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Position scope:

Primary responsibility is to promote the hotel and maximize guest room occupancy. The primary job objective is to meet, maintain and exceed forecasted sales goals for room revenue and meeting rooms, where applicable. The position reports to the General Manager and Executive Vice President of WNW.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Each hotel General Manager must establish attainable revenue goals that are based upon the annual production of the accounts assigned to the sales person. These goals should be broken down to weekly goals for the sales person. These goals will be included on the weekly sales reports. A separate line for meeting room revenue goals should be included (where applicable).
  • A set of Sales Activity goals will be provided to you. These goals will cover weekly telemarketing goals, outside cold calls, maintenance calls, appointments, site visits and e-mail solicitations.
  • Every week no less then 3 hours must be spent telemarketing new prospects. We define this time as the Power Hours.
  • Handle the production and distribution of b-monthly Constant Contact e-mail blast. Please note all E-Mail Blast must be approved by the General Manager.
  • Actively solicit business from all markets via appointments, telemarketing, networking events, trade shows, quarterly mailings, E-Mails and correspondence.
  • The Sales Manager must be current on all brand requirements and certifications.
  • The sales manager must actively work with the brand sales and Marketing team and participate in all approved promotion and initiatives.
  • Sales Profiles-Each sales person is responsible to keep thorough company profiles of all accounts we do business with. This should include the name of the contact person or persons, In addition to information about each time the company is contacted
  • It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to ensure that the Vice President meets all contacts for major accounts and is kept informed of all pertinent information.
  • Prospecting Leads-Each sales person should spend time every week prospecting newspapers, the Internet, networking organization and other resources for new leads.
  • It is the sales manager’s responsibility to keep all social media pages updated and current.
  • Continuing Education: Each sales person will be required to attend at least one sales seminar every year employed.
  • Action Calendar-Each sales person must have an action calendar for every month. This outline should include how you will achieve your goals. This plan should be reviewed with the General Manager and WNW Management.
  • Perform weekly reader board reviews of the comp set and Parking Lot observation send results in the sales report.
  • Sales Manager must be present and active as a Lobby/ Breakfast Room Ambassador no less then twice a week.
  • Monthly-Each hotel sales team along with the General Manager will hold a sales and marketing meeting with WNW Management.
  • At this meeting the staff will update the Vice President and President on all Sales efforts, any news in the competitive set, etc. The WNW Management may request that you have a preplanned appointment to call on a major account of the hotel.
  • First Impression- Professional attire is one the most important parts of the job in Sales. All WNW sales personnel must present themselves in professional attire and be well groomed.
  • Sales reports are due on Friday of each week; your General Manager must sign the report. The report then must be forwarded to WNW Management with notes and actions discussed with your General Manager.
  • Assist the GM in training the front desk staff in guest service relations and sales techniques.
  • Assist the GM with analyzing the monthly P&L and making corrections for future months.
  • Work closely with the establish marketing plan and perform sales and marketing activities to attract new business.
  • Attend and become active in local organizations and chamber. Work on being a leader in the community.
  • Weekly hotel web reviews need to be preformed and the report sent to the General Manager.
  • Work closely with all third party website marketing managers to help our position and ROI.
  • Properly coordinate and communicate with all respective departments.
  • Fulfill other obligations or duties as requested by the General Manager.
