Summary
We are seeking a Claims Specialist to join our team at the Women's Health Center of Southern Oregon. In this role, you will be responsible for managing insurance claims processes, ensuring accurate coding and documentation, and facilitating smooth communication between our clinic and insurance providers. Your contributions will be vital in supporting our mission to provide exceptional women's healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services rendered.
- Utilize ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding for medical documentation and billing purposes.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation for all claims submitted.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and resolve any discrepancies.
- Assist in the management of patient inquiries related to billing and insurance issues.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances, billing inquiries, and insurance coverage.
- Post payments from insurance companies and patients to accounts, ensuring accurate records of all transactions.
- Confirm patient insurance eligibility and coverage to ensure claims are processed correctly.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and insurance policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or claims processing, preferably in an OBGYN or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, medical coding, and medical terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
