What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Museum Facilitator position at Wonder Workshop Children's Museum?
Wonder Workshop Children's Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Museum Facilitator. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on environments and enjoys working with children of all ages. As a Museum Facilitator, you will play a vital role in creating an engaging, safe, and memorable experience for visitors, helping to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Museum Operations:
- Welcome and assist families as they explore museum exhibits, ensuring a positive visitor experience.
- Operate the register for admissions and sales.
- Set up, lead, and clean up interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities for a variety of age groups.
- Maintain a safe and inviting environment by following established museum protocols and childcare standards.
Discovery Days Facilitation:
- Plan, lead, and supervise STEAM activities, games, and museum-based exploration for Discovery Days when USD 383 schools are out of session.
- Facilitate engaging field trips and activities designed to inspire creativity and discovery outside of the traditional classroom.
Birthday Party Support:
- Prepare and decorate for birthday parties hosted at the museum.
- Lead STEAM activities for up to 15 children as part of party programming.
- Ensure a seamless experience by managing setup, cleanup, and museum playtime for party guests.
Think Big Summer Camp:
- Serve as a day camp counselor for our Think Big Summer Camp, running for two weeks on, one week off.
- Plan and facilitate engaging summer programming focused on STEAM, creativity, and exploration.
- Supervise and support campers during structured activities, free play, and field trips.
- Collaborate with staff to create a fun and safe environment for all participants.
Requirements:
- A genuine love for working with children and families in diverse and interactive settings.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle conflicts and resolve issues effectively.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving moderate lifting and extended periods of movement.
- Dependable, adaptable, and capable of balancing multiple responsibilities.
- A passion for education, inclusivity, and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in education, recreation, or childcare roles.
- Skills in classroom management or group facilitation.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for delivering hands-on STEAM experiences.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible, part-time hours during museum open hours. (Currently this is Wednesday-Saturday 10am-3pm)
- Additional availability for Discovery Days (USD 383 No Class Days) and weekend birthday party events is strongly preferred.
