Starting wage: $14.50/hr with potential to earn an additional .50 cents per hour for returning employees.
GENERAL FUNCTION
Performs a variety of tasks in operating, maintaining, repairing, and light construction in County Park and Forestry areas and facilities.
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Transport, operate, and maintain various park equipment, such as mowers, loader tractors, light duty trucks and various other specialized equipment (i.e., stump cutter, tree spade, brush chipper and cutters, chainsaw), used in the general maintenance of County Park and Forestry areas and facilities.
2. Perform routine general operations and maintenance functions of County Park and Forestry areas and facilities, recreational areas and campgrounds including, but not limited to, special projects, cleaning restrooms, refuse pickup, painting and repairing park structures and facilities used by the public.
3. Assist in planting, maintenance and care of trees, shrubs, grass and landscape work, as needed.
4. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner as trained in County Park and Forestry areas and facilities
B. OTHER DUTIES
1. Assist in forestry, park and campground operations, as assigned.
2. Maintain and repair park roads as needed.
3. Transport materials, supplies or workers to and from assigned County Park and Forestry areas and facilities. Will not operate equipment requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
4. Other duties as may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
High school education or its equivalent is required. Must be 18 years old. At least one year of related work experience preferred. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License is required. Basic knowledge of building maintenance and landscaping procedures preferred. Candidates must possess basic everyday living skills; the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions (work assignments, safety rules); the ability to read and write (reading labels on cleaning supplies, estimates for work projects, mixing fuels), add and subtract (using a calculator). Certifications in basic First Aid and Adult Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), forklift and chainsaw training is desired, but will provide training as necessary.
Ability to use the following: calculator, telephone, two-way radio, power and hand tools. Ability to drive trucks and boats, material handling equipment, mower, snowplow and tractor/loader equipment.
Note: The Seasonal Maintenance Workers are seasonal positions, with a maximum total of 1,039 hours.
