SUMMARY:
Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level that involve administering policies, programs and practices in the following areas: employee relations, recruiting, compensation, training, employment, affirmative action, equity, benefits, compliance, safety, etc. Duties include formulating polices and procedures for Human Resources Department and recommending polices and practices to senior management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Follow all general safety regulations and use provided safety equipment as required. See JSA & PDA for this position for details safety instructions.
- Understand ISO 9001 requirements / Olympic Quality Policy. Always follow work instructions and procedures as established through Olympic Quality Policy.
- Administers an effective recruitment program.
- Proposes, publishes and administers personnel policies and ensures they comply with applicable statues, regulations, etc.
- Conducts wage and benefit surveys.
- Administers classification programs, which includes classifying and reclassifying positions and writing job descriptions.
- Oversees benefit programs.
- Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
- Recommends, evaluates and participates in employee development.
- Coordinates risk management program.
- Monitors workers’ compensation claims and coordinates between employee and insurance carrier.
- Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.
- Facilitates and/or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.
- Stays current on federal, state and case law changes and monitors labor law updates and newsletter for changes that affect HR.
- Obtains bids upon renewal, confers with management regarding benefit costs, makes recommendation as to employer/employee cost sharing, performs open enrollment and benefits meetings.
- Administers plant salaried compensation and performance review program.
- Oversees plant wide emergency response and safety programs.
- Conducts disciplinary actions involving potential employee discharges, resolves differences.
- Responsible for the overall management of the plant safety program.
- Keep area neat, organized and clean as well as follow 5S principles as they are appropriate.
- Cross train in other positions as required.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed by the employee’s supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises employees in the Human Resources Department. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, coupled with ability to rapidly and effectively respond to changing priorities. Computer literacy with Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as HRIS and time and attendance systems are required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and 5 years Human Resources experience, or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents and training materials such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills are required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard work hours will consist of eight hours per day, five days per week on an assigned shift.
Schedule hours may be altered as required by business conditions. This may be more (or less) than eight hours per day or five days per week. An ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays is essential for this position. Some travel with occasional overnight stays is required in this position.
