Position:Bi-Lingual Adjustment Counselor
Location:Woodland Elementary School
Schedule:2025 – 2026 School Year
Salary:Per Teachers Contract
To Start:August 25, 2025 (plus two mentoring days prior to start date, 8/19-8/20)
Qualifications:
●Licensed by DESE as School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor
●Degree in Counseling/Social Work
●LICSW/LMHC or in process, preferred
●Elementary school experience, preferred
●Completion of the 2-hour online Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire
●Bilingual, Portuguese and/or Spanish required.
oProof of proficiency in the Target language, as aligned to DESE Guidance for the Provision of Interpreters in the Education Setting (p.8), required within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities:
The following items are completed in English and/or the targeted language, as appropriate:
●Provide individual and/or group counseling to students on a weekly basis
●Intervene during crisis situations and make appropriate referrals
●Consult with administrators, nurse, parents, teacher and community providers
●Attend IEP and 504 meetings as needed
●Develop protocols for teachers for dealing with crisis at school
●Attend adjustment counselor meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings and community meetings
●Serve on School Crisis Team
●Work collaboratively with court and police officials regarding truancy and court cases
●CPI training and certification preferred
●Provide staff training on behavioral and mental health issues
●Facilitate building to building transition meetings
●Develop IEP counseling goals and provide services as needed
●Work collaboratively with staff to develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
●Active member of the pre-referral process
●Perform any other duties as designated by the administrator
