Summary/Objective
Responsible for assisting the Storeroom Keeper and Storeroom Clerk in all areas of subsistence accountability and storage. Performs the Storeroom Helper duties to meet the standards of the Storeroom Helper OJT (On the Job Training) form.
Essential Functions

- Receives, inspects, and documents subsistence at arrival to the facilities per the following:
- Properly stores, culls and rotates subsistence.
- Assists with inventories as dictated by CAFE (Corporate Automated Food Enterprise) and management.
- Issues and restocks subsistence before, during, and after meals, to meet meal production.
- Maintains security of subsistence at loading dock and in all storage areas.
- Maintains sanitation to standards of the PWS (Performance Work Statement).
- Maintains temperature requirements as follows:
- Assists in meat thawing activities to support meal production requirements.
- Maintains accurate temperature logs (AF638) on refrigeration equipment to ensure food safety.
- Responsible for coordinating multiple tasks, adapting to changes in workload and working conditions quickly, while maintaining standards of PWS.

Work Environment
This job operates in a food service environment. This role routinely requires the position holder to be familiar with the operation, safety, and basic troubleshooting requirements of all equipment utilized in the food service facility and utility services including gas and electric. This role routinely uses standard dining hall facility equipment including computer systems and software, printers, basic hand tools, basic sanitation equipment, and use and safety of cleaning and chemical agents.
This job operates in a food service environment. The employee is exposed to a variety of conditions such as significant heat and / or cold, exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration, and the noise level in the work environment can be loud.
This role routinely requires the position holder to be familiar with the operation, safety, and basic troubleshooting requirements of all equipment utilized in the food service facility.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires the ability to bend, squat, twist, reach overhead occasionally and sit/stand for up to 6 hours. Must be able to withstand temperature changes to go in and out of freezer. Must be able to lift 45-60 lbs. chest high.

Travel is generally not expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience

- Work experience as a mess attendant.
- Successful completion of Storeroom Helper certification.
- Ability to complete and maintain the ServSafe™ Food Handler’s annual certification No required education level specified.

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.
- Must be able to complete applicable storeroom related paperwork.
- Basic mathematical skills required to perform operation and paperwork requirements to include conversion and calculation of weight and volume.
- Has knowledge of kitchen equipment including telephone , hand cart, 2-wheel cart, 4-wheel cart, pallet jack, calculator, scales, soda/CO² hookups, cleaning equipment as applicable to task, basic sanitation equipment.
- Able to adapt to work changes.
- Able to understand/comprehend English. Able to work with chemicals and understand SDS (Safety Data sheets)
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- Ability to meet the requirements of Air Force background check.
- Ability to complete and maintain the ServSafe™ Food Handler’s annual certification. Ability to meet the requirements of Air Force background check.
