POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales Associate for the Greystone Retail Store is responsible for providing customers with a unique shopping experience by providing excellent customer service, utilizing effective selling techniques, and providing in-depth product knowledge in a specialty retail environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with Store Manager to ensure monthly staff schedule provides proper coverage.
- Provides training for new employees to include store procedures, product education and correct handling of specialized products, such as cutlery.
- Trains staff on POS system and proper cash handling.
- Assists Store Manager in training of Student Concierge Team.
- Works with Store Manager to ensure that daily sales floor cleaning and restocking tasks are completed.
- Greets and welcomes customers to the store with enthusiasm. Interacts warmly, clearly and effectively with customers, wearing the “face” of CIA hospitality.
- Determines and understands customers’ needs by asking open-ended questions.
- Explains the features and benefits, addressing individual customer needs.
- Suggests additional items utilizing sales skills to build multiple sales.
- Maintains a CIA provided cash drawer and follows proper cash handling policies and procedures. Performs cashier functions with minimal errors for all transactions. Ensures POS pricing is always correct and that everyone is charged appropriately for items sold. Bags merchandise appropriately to avoid damage when necessary.
- Follows through on customer requests as taken.
- Regularly provides feedback to store managers on customer reaction to store and merchandise.
- Assists in stocking and re-stocking of merchandise throughout the store on a daily basis, including trips to the storage cage located in the tunnel.
- Maintains the order and cleanliness of the store.
- Conducts Greystone Experience Tours.
- Covers Greystone Cellars Wine Bar as necessary.
- Packing of shippers and receiving of merchandise and other areas as needed.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of retail sales experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Point-of Sale (POS) systems.
- Prior experience selling cookware, dinnerware, cutlery, kitchen electrics or bakeware products.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Exemplary customer service skills.
- Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Excellent communication skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable and dependable.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Ability to become familiar with the products we carry and their uses.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work at both locations of the CIA California Campus (Greystone in St. Helena, CA and Copia in Napa, CA).
- Must be available to work a flexible scheduling including overtime on nights, weekends and holidays as required by business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of climbing, standing, lifting, bending, reaching and stretching for up to eight (8) hours per day.
- Must be able to stand for up to eight (8) hours per day.
- Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
