We are seeking a Technician to support our Madison Heights clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use appropriate hand tools to perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
- Determine the best material and tools to use to build the prosthetic limb or medical appliance.
- Assist Prosthetists in the design and fitting of prosthetic devices; making adjustments as needed.
- Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and other safety and governmental regulations.
- Identify and suggest improvements to processes to promote efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain inventory of items used during fabrication process.
- Perform shipping and receiving for the lab.
- Manage inventory for fabrication supplies and stock items.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Participate in continuing education to be proficient in fabricating techniques and material properties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Comfortable using hand/power tools and standard shop equipment.
- Familiar with Lamination techniques, mold preparation, and working with thermoplastics, resins, metal, leather, and plaster.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Capable of lifting loads up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use laboratory tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to work as a team member.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years experience or technical training preferred.
- Certified Prosthetic Technician (CTP) a plus.
