What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Wright Flood - Nation's Largest Flood Insurance Company?
The Staff Accountant (Month-end) will prepare month end in order to back up the current Business Analyst in Finance and once trained share in preparation. Preparation includes the build process, analyze data errors, reconcile to database, agent statement and batches then close the month end. This position also includes reporting of surplus lines to applicable states and assistance with state audits.
Accountabilities/Job Duties:
- Build Month end process and balances all premium and non-premium, loss files.
- Analyze data errors and edits.
- Reconcile company month end files to database.
- Reconcile agent statements and batches.
- Close month end for all companies timely to ensure compliance with B&B corporate reporting.
- Send Balance Due letters to agents.
- Report surplus lines taxes to applicable states.
- Monitor cash suspense to ensure E&S policy issuance.
- Report and monitor company exceptions.
- Performing database analysis including query skills, table updates/maintenance, and perform data corrections.
- Assist with state audits.
- Assist in preparing tax payments for management.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Previous experience in a Finance/Accounting department preferred but not required.
- The Staff Accountant (Month-end) must have excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to resolve difficult reconciliation issues when needed.
- Must be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to change priorities when needed.
- In addition, the Staff Accountant (Month-end) should have better than average time management and organizational skills in order to achieve the financial statement close deadlines.
- Must be able to work the 1st of every month
