What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Technician, Surveying position at WSP?
WSP is currently initiating a search for a CADD/OpenRoads Technician for our Raleigh, NC office to support our Southeast Region Geospatial / Surveying Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting conventional, aerial, mobile and terrestrial surveying projects by accompanying and assisting other WSP field surveying staff members.
Your Impact- Develop technically accurate and deliverable computer-generated CADD drawings utilizing Open Roads Designer, based on surveyors notes and sketches; preparation of complete contract drawings; maintain adherence to company and client CADD standards and procedures
- Prepare and produce survey documents as directed
- Conduct project research and review plans, legal descriptions, and calculations.
- Process field crew data
- Provide technical support for field crews including files, instructions, and maps
- Compile, organize, and analyze survey data with supervision
- Prepare state DOT mapping
- Working closely and collaboration with a dynamic team of experienced professionals
- Produce consistent, high-quality drafting according to internal and client specifications
- Maintain a high-level production and quality to meet & exceed client expectations
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 3 years of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoadsDesigner experience
- Familiar with other relevant software such as GIS or BIM and technology used in surveying and civil engineering
- Working knowledge of surveying and/or civil engineering practices is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and able to follow QA/QC procedures
- Self-motivated, highly reliable and great work ethic
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to work with a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
- Essential professional licensure/certification.
