In collaboration with the health care team, the incumbent coordinates the receptionist and clerical functions and activities of the department. The incumbent is responsible for the accurate transcription of physician’s orders, while managing the patient documentation systems. The clerk is generally the first contact in public relations for the nursing department. Demonstrates the ability to facilitate communication between healthcare team members, to prioritize and coordinate patient care transcription and is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow coworkers.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in Radiology/Medical Records preferred
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred
- Basic computer skills and/or word processing preferred.
- Responsible for clerical functions for the department.
- Responsible for collating and maintaining patient x-ray files, printing films and burning cds
- Acts as focus of communication between guests, callers and radiology staff.
- Responsible for clerical instruction of new employees and radiology students including completion of student evaluations.
- Assists in maintaining necessary supplies.
- Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment.
- Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
- Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
- Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families, and maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel recognize and reinforce positive efforts of all coworkers and address personnel problems in a tactful and timely manner.
