JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management of the Marion Quality Assurance and Sanitation program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors, checks and inspects all facets of the production operation that directly or indirectly affect the quality and food safety of the finished products. Act as an advisor to management in any and all matters concerning quality assurance. Offers guidance and counsel to all operations departments where measurements have shown potential problem areas exist. Trains and imparts knowledge on operations and standards to those required to function with them. Coordinates responses to customer complaints as requested and provides technical information on responses to same.
DUTIES:
1. Supervises and directs activities of QA LAB technicians to ensure analysis is prompt and in compliance with GLP’s. Responsible for all functions of the quality assurance technicians and laboratory.
2. Performs periodic quality audits and plant sanitation inspection to ensure compliance with GMP’s.
3. Reviews, validates and updates QA standard operating procedures and laboratory methods.
4. Promotes and oversees the Standardization of SOP’s.
5. Implementation and yearly verification of HACCP program.
6. Identify and coordinate areas for improvement as they pertain to achieving quality goals (Quality Initiatives).
7. Coordinates and supervises pest control activities.
8. Handles customer/consumer complaints and coordinates them with production. Responds to customer complaints as requested on a timely basis. Coordinates responses to customer complaints as requested and provides technical information on response to same.
9. Supervises raw material inspection; maintains and updates raw material specification book.
10. Oversees period end quality summary for customers.
11. Promotes company mission statement through Management by example.
12. Monitors, checks and inspects all facets of the production operation that directly or indirectly affect the quality and acceptability of the finished products.
13. Provides technical information to all operations-related departments as appropriate.
14. Communicates via telephone or mail with internal and external customers.
15. Evaluate and dispositions of non-specification product.
16. Coordinates regulatory and customer audits and inspections.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The individual must possess excellent human relations skills, communication skills, and be able to work with all levels of teammates, suppliers, customers, and the general public. This individual must be detail-oriented and must have experience with statistical quality control. Must be able to deal with utmost confidentiality with proprietary information. Must possess a four year degree, preferably in food processing technology or food science. Must be able to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form.
