Founded in 1986 by visionary developer, Jim Wilson Jr., Wynlakes Golf and Country Club is a top tier private club located in the east Montgomery, Eastchase area. The Club offers a warm and friendly hospitality work environment in a refined setting where social skills, work ethics and teamwork are the highest priority.
Wynlakes is currently seeking a dedicated Tennis/Pickleball Professional to assist in overseeing all junior and adult tennis and pickleball clinics, leagues, and special activities. This position will work in coordination with Director of Racquet Sports, Dani Leal, who has been the Tennis Professional at Wynlakes for 37 years! Wynlakes' tennis complex includes 8 clay courts, 3 hard courts, and 4 Pickleball courts.
This position is responsible for promoting and developing tennis and pickleball programs for adults, children, and seniors. Organizes tennis/pickleball clinics and private lessons that encourage participation in the club’s tennis activities. Promotes tennis memberships, and assists the Director of Tennis with all tennis related activities.
The selected candidate must have a great attitude and must be enthusiastic and motivated to engage and teach our members. Opportunities for growth are encouraged and dependent upon the selected candidate's motivation, creativity and work ethic.
Applicants must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience teaching tennis and must be certified by RSPA (USPTA). Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and must be able to pass a 7-year background check, as well as a pre-employment drug screening.
Job Tasks
- Organizes/teaches junior and adult tennis/pickleball clinics and private lessons;
- Runs "round robins" for members;
- Provides group and individual tennis/pickleball lessons;
- Organizes Junior play days, pickleball special events, and inner club leagues;
- Helps coordinate, promote, and execute social tennis and pickleball activities;
- Promotes club leagues, socials, ladders, and tournaments;
- Records court reservations and lesson appointments;
- Works tennis shop hours, as needed;
- Manages tennis shop and tennis employees in the absence of the Director of Tennis;
- Manages inventory of the tennis shop;
- Assists members and guests with questions regarding potential tennis shop purchases;
- Helps keep the tennis facility clean and in proper order;
- Coordinates court maintenance and brushing courts when needed;
- Helps run USTA sanctioned tournaments, monthly social’s, and any impromptu tennis/pickleball ideas;
- Attends staff meetings and tennis and/or pickleball workshops;
- Calls new members to conduct orientation into tennis or pickleball and programs available;
- Strings and grips racquets;
- Enforces club policies;
- Plays tennis with members in social events;
- Attends educational activities with PTR and/or USPTA or USTA;
- Cooperates with local pros;
- Completes other tasks as assigned by the Director of Tennis.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years teaching experience;
- PTR and/or YRSPA (USPTA) certification;
- Maintain a 4.0 USTA rating or higher;
- Highly organized, creative, and energetic;
- Enthusiastic, friendly, respectful, and attentive;
- Must be able to work Tennis shop hours, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and up to 40 hours/week (including on/off court).
COMPENSATION: Compensation includes $16/hour (up to 40 hours a week) plus percentage of lessons and clinics.
