Job Summary:
This Ski Shop Manager oversees all aspects of operations, including rentals, sales, lessons, and tours. It requires strong leadership to supervise staff, ensure customer satisfaction, and manage finances. Key duties include inventory management, equipment maintenance, and providing ski-related information, all while upholding high hospitality standards.

Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: December 2024 to March 2025
Pay: Salary will be discussed during the interview process
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- Oversee the ski shop operation at assigned location
- Manage ski shop operation, including cross country ski rentals, repairs, retail sales, lessons and guided tours
- Provide and ensure excellent guest service by adhering and training to Xanterra’s hospitality standards
- Responsible for managing shop sales and payroll budget and proper departmental recordkeeping
- Responsible for scheduling, supervising and coaching ski shop personnel. Coordinate lesson and tour scheduling, and participate in lessons and tours
- Responsible for overall shop appearance, restocking and merchandise display, and dissemination of ski related information (i.e., weather reports, ski trail conditions)
- Responsible for keeping rental equipment in good operating condition and making recommendations for new equipment purchases
Qualifications
- Must have good general knowledge of, and ability in, all aspects of cross country skiing, including backcountry and track skiing and the proper equipment used
- Able to provide cross country ski instruction and guided day tours with a focus on proper education and personal safety
- Must have good general knowledge of Yellowstone Park and overall winter operations; good specific knowledge of location's winter operation and ski trails
- Able to operate cash register properly and handle cash accurately
- Demonstrate a professional approach in managing shop operation, supervising employees and working with other departments
- Able to perform duties with minimal supervision; excellent attendance and punctuality
- Current first aid and CPR training is required (training provided if needed)
- Current PSIA certification is encouraged
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Able to operate Company vehicles safely. May include car, van, snow-coach or snowmobile under seasonal conditions
Physical Requirements include:
- Must be capable of working in cold weather conditions
- Able to work outside in temperatures as low a -10 degrees Fahrenheit
- Must be capable of performing strenuous tasks such as shoveling snow or removing logs or other large objects from the trail
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
