Position Summary
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist at XL Construction, you will be a critical contributor to building our future workforce. In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Director and department leaders, you will lead strategic efforts to identify, engage, and convert talent into long-term assets for our organization. This includes managing full-cycle recruiting efforts with a dedicated emphasis on strategic sourcing, university engagement, early career programs, and intern-to-FTE conversions that align with our succession and workforce planning goals.
We are looking for a proactive and relationship-driven recruiter who can think strategically, act with urgency, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with department managers to forecast hiring needs and develop strategic talent pipelines.
- Lead university recruitment initiatives, including building relationships with key institutions, facilitating career fairs, and hosting on-campus events.
- Design and execute off-cycle internship and co-op programs that enhance the candidate experience and support future hiring needs.
- Develop and implement processes to convert high-performing interns into full-time hires, contributing to long-term organizational growth.
- Source, screen, and engage diverse and qualified candidates using platforms like LinkedIn, Boolean search, job boards, referrals, and ATS tools.
- Deliver a best-in-class candidate experience, ensuring transparent communication and efficient hiring workflows.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and candidate activity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Collaborate with the broader People team to align recruitment with company culture, DEI goals, and workforce planning strategies.
- Act as a brand ambassador, promoting XL Construction as an employer of choice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 – 5 years of progressive recruiting experience, preferably within the construction or engineering industries
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, intern program management, and early talent hiring
- Experience in university relations, including outreach, event participation, and relationship building
- Proficiency in ATS tools and sourcing platforms (LinkedIn Recruiter, really, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and precision
- Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive hiring practices

The starting base salary for this position is $81,000 – $90,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, including experience, education, role complexity, and job location. This position may be eligible for bonuses and a full benefits package.
