Position Title: Office Specialist ILocation: Yakima County Assigned CounselPay Range: $20.87 - $26.47 per hour (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, B21 Step 1-13)Hiring Range: $20.87 - $22.15 per hour (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, B21 Step 1-4 DOQ)Closing Date: January 28, 2025The Yakima County Department of Assigned Counsel is seeking an Office Specialist I to provide specialized legal support services. This position is integral to the department’s operations, supporting case and court-related functions while maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective communication with attorneys, clients, and justice agencies.Key Responsibilities: Analyze legal and medical documents, reports, and statements.Conduct research using judicial databases and interpret findings to identify relationships and conflicts of interest.Input, sort, and manage information in client database systems.Prepare summary conflict reports, legal documents, and case assignments.Collaborate with private attorneys regarding case appointments and prepare court orders.Support ongoing cases, administrative operations, and communications with staff, clients, and external agencies.Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience: High school diploma or GED AND three (3) years of general office experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job successfully.Requirements: Successful completion of a keyboarding test with a minimum typing speed of 35 net WPM (a testing link will be sent via email and must be completed within 48 hours of the closing date).Successful completion of a criminal background investigation and general employment verification.Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree (AA) may substitute for experience.Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.High typing speed and accuracy.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.Why Join Us?This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the legal system while honing specialized administrative skills.
