Position Focus :
Carry out and oversee specialized analyses using mass spectroscopy-based cell analyzer, including cytometry time of flight CyTOF and imaging mass cytometry, IMC, for multidisciplinary basic science and clinical studies. Work with a high level of independence including calibration and instrument maintenance, implementation of all safety procedures, chemical conjugation of antibody reagents, providing data reports for high-throughput protocols and cost recovery. Work collaboratively with users to trouble shoot experiments and optimize standard operating procedures.
Essential Duties
1. User Training : Provide technical training and guidance to users of the research core. 2. Experiment Support : Contribute to experimental design, execution, data analysis, and troubleshooting for research projects using established protocols within the research core. 3. Facility / Instrument Support : Support research core operations, including specialized equipment maintenance. 4. Technique Development : Optimize experimental protocols and workflows. 5. Data Analysis / Interpretation : Analyze and interpret complex scientific data. 6. Equipment Procurement : Assist in the installation and maintenance of specialized research core equipment. 7. Professional Development : Stay updated with relevant scientific literature and advancements in the field. Participate in professional development activities and scientific conferences. 8. Scientific Participation : Collect and analyze scientific data for manuscript preparation and grant proposals 9. Vendor Relations : Maintains vendor relationships, evaluates products, and collaborates with purchasing for timely procurement of laboratory supplies. 10. Education and Outreach : Participate in education and outreach activities within the core, including tours, events, etc.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience
Required Skill / Ability 1 :
A demonstrated ability to make appropriate, independent decisions and to initiate suitable activity with minimal supervision is required.
Required Skill / Ability 2 :
A demonstrated ability to perform complex experiments and / or familiarity with specialized instrumentation is required. Knowledge of mass spectroscopy research methodologies is preferred.
Required Skill / Ability 3 :
Excellent verbal communication skills are essential. Meticulous attention to detail is required for this position.
Required Skill / Ability 4 :
An ability to work collaboratively with multiple investigators on multiple teams, for projects having competing priorities, is required.
Required Skill / Ability 5 :
A recognized ability to troubleshoot and solve computer problems in a user-support role is strongly preferred.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field is required. Two years experience with analytic instrumentation in clinical or laboratory studies is required or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience using mass spectroscopy particularly CyTOF and or IMC.
