Yarmouth Daycare (YDC) is a small, non-profit childcare organization in Yarmouth,
Maine. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children ages infant to five-years by forming a cooperative partnership between committed, caring staff and involved, loving parents.
Our 12-student day care and preschool/pre-k program is rooted in a communal family learning environment where learning is child-directed and focuses on increasing independence and social-emotional development. Job description
We are looking for a Center Director who enjoys working with young children and who is eager to be part of a vibrant early education community and to lead us as we evolve to meet the collective needs of our community. The Director manages the day-to-day operations of YDC, oversees programs and staffing, is accountable for sustaining a positive learning environment, and must comply with the State of Maine Family Childcare Licensing Regulations.
The successful applicant will have experience managing all aspects of a childcare center, as well as strong leadership skills coupled with a team-oriented mentality. You should display a friendly manner, have a love for children, and strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment for children, families, and teachers.

Main Job Responsibilities
Function as Center Director and provide caregiving on an agreed-upon schedule.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and licensing regulations, including maintaining student and employee files, program quality and compliance, safety compliance, etc., as well as YDC policies and procedures.
Maintain a good relationship with licensing partners and YDC Board of Directors.
Proactively address challenges and resolve issues facing the center in its daily operations.
Be responsible for rolling enrollment of students and maintaining monthly enrollment schedule.
Provide family support and help with any issues or concerns they may have.
Provide staff support through formal and informal check-in meetings, staff meetings.
Work in coordination with board of directors in completing staff evaluations, training and development, performance plans, and disciplinary action if needed.
Oversee and review annual age-appropriate curriculum that embodies YDC’s mission and philosophy as well as meets Maine’s early learning guidelines.
Manage enrollment inquiries and schedule prospective family tours as needed.
Ensure the phone is answered and respond to voice and email messages.
In partnership with the board of directors, schedule and conduct hiring interviews and make decisions about who joins the YDC team.
Handle all time-off requests and provide a weekly staff schedule.
Review timecards and ensure accuracy each pay period; adjust when necessary.
Maintain family communication through in-person check ins, email, bulletin board, and standing monthly board meetings.
Oversee that the school environment is clean and organized.
Manage a small operating budget relevant to supplies, toy investments, and other necessary expenditures.
Desires (non-mandatory)
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with leadership experience.
Prior experience in a childcare center setting.
Prior experience supervising team members.
Job Type: 60-80% in-center work /20-40% alternative work location
