POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to perform a various jobs in the pastry department. You must have a vast knowledge in pastry arts and is well versed in making breakfast pastries, laminated doughs, cookies, cakes, custards, tarts, and pies amongst other items. The candidates will be responsible for leading basic preparation procedures. They will enjoy supporting the management team in ensuring the quality of food and creating new dishes. Ideal candidates will have a passion for food exploration and have a genuine desire to impress their guest.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and bake a diverse range of pastries and desserts, including cakes, cookies, tarts and pies, laminated doughs, muffins, scones, buns, donuts and other confections, consistently maintaining high-quality standards.
- Demonstrate expertise in various pastry techniques, such as dough-making, icing, and decorating, to create visually appealing and delicious treats.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Adapt and develop new pastry recipes, taking into consideration quantities, dietary restrictions and emerging trends in the industry.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for necessary ingredients and supplies.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest pastry trends, techniques, and innovations.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role, with a strong portfolio of creative pastry creations within a restaurant, hotel or catering setting.
- In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques and a passion for experimenting with flavors and textures.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in presentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment while maintaining composure and delivering consistently high-quality results.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and schedules.
- Formal culinary training or relevant certification is a plus.
