POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Fuel Program provides protection and overall enhancement of lands on the Yavapai-Apache Nation through enhancement projects including; fuel breaks, thinning and prescribe burns. Protection of the lands includes projects to reduce wildfires with the objective to promote and maintain forest health.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skilled in chain saw operation.
- Ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicle associated with forestry work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with co-workers, supervisory.
- Knowledge of standard fire program requirements, suppression tactics, methods and procedures and skill in use of wildland firefighting hand tools, radios, pumps and hoses sufficient to perform routinely assigned fire suppression and prescribed fire assignments in various types of fuels and under a variety of weather and terrain conditions.
- Knowledge and skill of standard first and procedures sufficiently to perform preliminary first aid and triage as necessary.
- Must possess the ability to verbally communicate sufficiently to work as a member of the team.
- Ability to perform duties under stressful and adverse operations, such as long working hours, heavy workloads, emergency situations, adverse working and environmental conditions.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Yavapai Apache Nation Drug Free Workplace Program. Incumbent is subject to medical examination and must pass the work capacity test for arduous position.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and have the ability to operate light vehicles and 4x4s.
