POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early Learning Teacher position supports the work of the YMCA of Collier County, Inc., a leading not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening the communities in Collier County through its core focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Early Learning Teacher has the primary responsibility for implementing a program to provide excellent educational opportunities and care for young children (aged 3 mos. – 5 years). With the support and guidance of the EL Director, he/she will develop the curriculum to be used in the classroom. This includes preparing and implementing lessons plans, as well as creating and ensuring the daily schedule is followed. The Early Learning teacher will monitor student development and abilities and will provide individualized experiences and opportunities to foster growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop classroom curriculum, lesson plans, and daily schedule.
- Oversee specific components of classroom management.
- Monitor and keep written records of children’s development and skills.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
- Monitor children at all times.
- Attend regular meetings with Early Learning Director and teaching staff to discuss, assess, and plan for various aspects of the Program such as curriculum, lesson plans, schedule, classroom procedures, children’s development, extracurricular activities, concerns of or about parents, and any other issues that may arise.
- Report all problems, incidents, and accidents to supervisor immediately.
- Complete written incident/illness/accident reports as necessary.
- Maintain and preserve all program equipment and supplies.
- Organize room before and clean room and playground after daily Program.
- Promote a positive relationship with parents by making a point of greeting them daily, sharing good news about their children with them, and informing them of any relevant information in a timely manner.
- Keep the Early Learning Director informed of all program issues as they arise especially when related to the children’s behavior and development.
- Complete monthly classroom report.
- Communicate three times weekly to parents via email and Tadpoles format.
- Maintain training requirements.
- Be familiar with YMCA mission, policies and procedures.
- Participate in YMCA programs and promotions.
- Be an enthusiastic, dedicated, reliable, and committed member of our team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Early Childhood Education (bachelor’s degree preferred) or Child Development Associate credentials (Director’s Credential preferred)
- Meet all Department of Children and Family standards.
- Certification in Infant, Child and Adult CPR, and Basic First Aid.
- Completion of 45-hour child care course required by the State of Florida.
- 21 years or older with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
- Hold and maintain a driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

- Onsite attendance is required of this position. Hours are Monday-Friday. Center opens at 7am-6pm, this position will be an 8 hour shift with a daily lunch break.
