Qualifications:
- Possess 3-4 years of related instruction, coaching and lesson planning in gymnastics, dance, tumbling, cheer, and/or Ninjanastics.
- Practical knowledge of progressive skill building as it relates directly to instructional gymnastics.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economical segments of the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, implement, and oversee gymnastics classes, camps, and related programs for various age groups and skill levels.
- Coordinate program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Provide ongoing communication to the RSD, Membership Director and front desk staff on registration and program participate related issues regarding gymnastics programs and other related program/events.
- Update information in front desk gymnastics binder to keep front desk staff up-to-date with program information.
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for participants and parents, addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Establish new program activities and expand programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Work directly with RSD to grow current programs while developing additional programs designed to strengthen program growth and participation.
- Works with RSD to create, conduct, schedule and maintain program offerings/schedules while ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
- Provide designated number of private gymnastics training hours per week (as determined by RSD) while also developing selected part-time staff to provide additional private training sessions.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and directly supervise gymnastics instructors/coaches.
- Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Review and evaluate staff performance.
- Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss program improvements, challenges, and team dynamics (training, development, etc.).
- Ensures proper implementation of department procedures. Review and update department procedures and communicate changes to staff.
- Ensure all staff members are trained in safety procedures/protocols.
- Provide leadership to the gymnastics department to ensure top-notch programming with the goal of skill advancement/.
- Ensure certification of all gymnastics staff via USA Gymnastics U100 Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction Course (usagym.org/education/courses) …within 60 days of hire (required).
- Encourage advanced education and certification for all gymnastics staff via USA Gymnastics U400 Elevating Gymnastics Coaching: Fostering Athlete Growth Course (usagym.org/education/courses) … within 90 days of hire (staff reimbursed and evaluation for immediate pay increase after completion)
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs while ensuring the progress of participants while adjusting programs to meet the skill progress and advancement of our athlete’s needs.
- Manage all mandatory YMCA staff required training courses ensuring staff complete training in a timely manner.
- Secure and scheduled program facilities (Gymnastics Center, MPR, Studio A/B).
- Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities.
- Conduct and ensure proper maintenance and inspection of programming equipment for safe use.
- Enforce safety guidelines and protocols during training sessions and events.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding gymnastics activities.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Network with schools, coaches, childcare facilities, days cares and preschools through handouts and offers to increase program participation.
- Create newsletter and/or other communication to keep families informed of upcoming programs, events, and achievements.
- Cultivate relationships with participants, parents, guardians and extended family and friends through participation in programs to demonstrate above and beyond customer service while also demonstrating the mission of the YMCA. Show and demonstrate genuine interest in both participant and parent.
- Assist RSD with the development of the program budget and monitor budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assist RSD with the oversight and inventory of gymnastics equipment, apparel, and supplies.
- Communicate and provide information in a timely manner to the RSD on day-to-day operations.
- Continually work towards the advancement of the YMCA’s mission while upholding the YMCA Core Values.
- Apply YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention.
- Participate in required department and branch staff meetings and/or related meetings to include Sports Cabinet.

Allocation of Time: 20-30 Hrs Week
95% of the time is allocated to providing direct service (instruction, floor support, staff instruction) as well as gym maintenance (moving equipment, cleaning, etc). This position will require weekend and evening shifts due to programming needs.
5% of the time will be allocated to gymnastics administration (work schedules, lesson plans, etc). Weekly admin time includes phone calls to participants, program flyer copies and placement in facility, staff meetings and training, data input, facility maintenance and equipment maintenance (gymnastics room, mats, balance beams, uneven bars, pads, other equipment, benches, training gear, etc).
