Position Summary:
Creates a flexible classroom environment and promotes learning and personal growth in an effort to establish rapport and motivate students towards desired outcomes.
Essential Functions:
1. Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
2. Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
3. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
4. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
5. Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed.
6. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
7. Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.
8. Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.

Qualifications:
1. Sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college/university
2. Substitute teaching experience required.
3. Background screening and fingerprints required.
4. Experience working with students from an ethnically diverse, urban population preferred.
