What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Literacy Infusion Specialist position at YMCA of Greater Charlotte?
Under the direction of the Association Director of Literacy and Youth Programs and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Literacy Coach will be responsible for planning and implementing literacy-based activities in youth programs, training and coaching staff to lead literacy activities, and ensuring that programs adhere to all fidelity markers and result in target outcomes.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and facilitate literacy-based activities with program participants
- Provide training for leadership and program staff to facilitate literacy activities
- Collect data required for assigned programs
- Provide feedback, modeling and coaching for staff to ensure program fidelity markers are met
- Submit required documentation
- Provide ongoing communication with families regarding literacy programming
- Assist in other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or similar field required
- Minimum 3 years of K-5 teaching experience required
- Experience mentoring or coaching other adults preferred
- Must be able to work collaboratively with diverse group of staff and participants
- Interest in coaching and developing staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate professionalism in all circumstances and with all stakeholders
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances
- Training and certifications required by the Quality Standards within allotted timeframe
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, sitting and walking.
