Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, the School Site Coordinator is responsible for leading staff in After School Programming to develop and instruct children in the After School Program. They will assist in providing a curriculum that promotes social, physical, and intellectual growth and oversee all staff at the location. All decisions must be guided through YMCA standards and program objectives. This role will also work in conjunction with other program coordinators to maximize our individuals and teams.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to manage and lead staff to oversee program logistics, planning, and implementation
- Valid current First Aid & CPR Certification
- Ability to work independently with a group of children
- Ability to lead staff to work independently with a group of children
- Ability to handle and resolve conflicts

Preferred Experience and/or Education
- Associate’s degree in education or related field of study
- One year of experience with diverse youth populations
Specific Responsibilities:
- Integrated into director program services 50% of scheduled/required hours.
- Administer and/or support the day-to-day operation of each designated program (Y-club, Child watch, Childcare, Kids Night Out, Summer programs, Special Events, and Teens).
- In partnership with the school staff, youth development director, and support staff; monitor and promote program student recruitment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times
- Always prepare and monitor staff schedule, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios
- Facilitate integration of the Y-Club afterschool program plan into the overall school culture in collaboration with school and YMCA leadership
- Organize and implement a strategy for equipment use and accountability
- Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.
- Supervise participants directly; keen in sight and sound at all times, never be alone with a child, be aware of proximity and perimeter
- Design and deliver purposeful and engaging program activities that are safe, fun, and age-appropriate while meeting program goal objectives (weekly lesson plans)
- Follows program lesson plans and implementation plans in a developmentally appropriate manner, meeting the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
- Assist with homework and encourage academic progress.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Attend staff meetings with Youth Development Director
- When the Youth Development Director is not available, follow the chain of command to assist designated supervisors in carrying out the duties of the program
- Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses under the guidance of the Youth Development Director

- Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior, and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth

- Communicates regularly with parents; attends parent/family events as designated
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers, attend required abuse risk management training, adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers, report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations, and follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose and goals, childcare policies, and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence
