What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mini Camp - Summer Counselor position at YMCA of the Northern Sky?
The YMCA Mini Camp is packed with activities that will keep minds sharp and little bodies moving! Kids will have a BLAST with outdoor games, sports activities, art projects, and more during each themed week! Each week, the kids will work to prepare a sing-along program to perform for their families. Mini Camp is a Day Camp located at the Fercho YMCA.
As a Youth Mini Camp Counselor, you will supervise children ages 3-5 as they participate in our half-day Mini Camp activities. You'll serve as a mentor and role model to the kids in our program and help campers adjust to camp, introduce them to new friends, and ensure their safety during camp, and make their time at camp as memorable as possible! A typical day at Mini Camp includes Group Time (Songs and Themed Discussions), Themed Art Projects, Gym Time, Themed Games, Lunch, Sing-along, Park/Swimming/Field Trip, and Story Time (followed by parent pick up).
Youth Mini Camp - Counselor:
- Responsible for the direct supervision and safety of the children (ages 3 to 5) in the camp program
- Available to answer parent/caregiver questions.
- Help campers adjust to camp by introducing them to new friends and facilitating positive peer-to-peer interactions
- Create a positive and nurturing relationship with the children, while building cooperative relationships with their parents/caregivers
Training starts June 2nd and programming goes until August 29th. (You will get June 30th - July 4th off)
