The YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge seeks a highly motivated and experienced Youth Sports Staff to join our team. As a Youth Sports Professional, you will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate sports programs for participants under the guidance of the Wellness Director.

The YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge seeks a highly motivated and experienced Youth Sports Staff to join our team. As a Youth Sports Professional, you will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate sports programs for participants under the guidance of the Wellness Director.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement instructional plans that promote safe and effective learning experiences for participants.
- Ensure proper technique and safe teaching skill development in various sports programs.
- Explain and demonstrate the use of apparatus and equipment, as well as principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in sports such as basketball, soccer, and t-ball.
- Observe participants during practice to detect and correct mistakes, providing positive feedback to enhance their experience.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations, and maintain accurate records of attendance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and social responsibility among participants.
- Notify supervisors of any damaged equipment or shortages, and participate in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Work Environment/Physical and Mental Demands:
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness and mobility to perform job duties, which may include standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, kicking, throwing, running, or jumping.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
- Perform tasks that require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
