Hiring: Research & Development Lab Assistant
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm, some nights and weekends as needed

The R&D Lab Assistant oversees QA testing at the corporate lab and supports projects from the Director of Research and Development.

The R&D Lab Assistant oversees QA testing at the corporate lab and supports projects from the Director of Research and Development.
Responsibilities:
- Perform chemistry, sensory, and microbiological testing (pH, total solids, APC, Coliform, EB, E. Coli, yeast, mold, probiotics) on finished products, R&D samples, and raw materials, ensuring compliance with specifications and communicating discrepancies.
- Conduct shelf life testing, coordinate periodic micro testing for retail stores, and provide technical support to franchisees and customers.
- Lead new product development, including bench-top formulation, plant trials, and product start-ups, while assisting with R&D projects.
- Execute experiments, maintain lab records, equipment, and supplies, and work with vendors to procure ingredients for projects.
- Ensure lab cleanliness, perform equipment calibrations, and stay updated on technical trends while adhering to safety protocols.
- Additional projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or higher; culinary degree or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- A few months of experience in a microbiology or food science lab, with skills in media plating and probiotics beneficial.
- Good understanding of laboratory environments and equipment maintenance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic knowledge of GMPs and HACCP is a plus.
- Preferred experience with probiotics, dairy, beverages, bakery, confectionery, cereals, grains, and fruits & nuts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Excellent documentation, organization, and follow-up skills.
