Position Overview:
The Chemical Value Stream Supervisor will be responsible for supervising employees engaged in a wide variety of manufacturing activities including weighing of raw materials, batching of liquid and paste products and packaging of liquid, paste and other products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Developing and communicating Safety, Quality and Productivity expectations ensuring all employees understand and work to meet Safety, Quality and Productivity expectations
- Developing and maintaining departmental Standard Operating Procedures; and ensuring all employees are trained on and adhere to them
- Working with Scheduling and Customer Service to maximize department efficiency while meeting Customer Service expectations
- Establishes production schedules, changes and optimization
- Development employee’s skills and knowledge through training and coaching
- Continuously improve department operations through the use of lean manufacturing principles, problem solving skills and teamwork
RELATED DUTIES:
- Evaluates non-conformities in products, production machines and test equipment and resolves the problems causing the non-conformities
- Performs other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with a preferred focus on engineering, manufacturing or supply chain
- At least 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience in a supervisory role or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Six sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook)
- Knowledge of manufacturing in a regulated environment (FDA, ISO, etc.)
- Familiarity with all departments within manufacturing and their interdependency, including flow of materials and flow of information
- Prior exposure to an ERP system
- Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
- Ability to follow-through and to manage multiple projects along with a strong sense of urgency in accomplishing goals
- Aptitude to learn new software applications
- Strong leadership skills including effectively managing other people and team building
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk frequently during the shift. The position may require working extended hours or on weekends as needed. Incumbent may need to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.
