Assistant Program Director - This is a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of Youth at Heart's after-school sites providing programs in education, recreation, and social development to elementary school youth in Tulsa’s socio-economically challenged and culturally diverse neighborhoods, ensuring the delivery of top-notch programming and fostering a positive and enriching environment for participants and engaging in staff recruitment, training, and supervision to uphold all contractual obligations set by the organization. Under the guidance of the Vice President of programs and working with diverse cultures to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of programming, duties include:

1. Program Development and Implementation:

o Collaborating with the VPP to create and assess engaging after school programs aligned with the organization's mission.

o Assisting in designing a comprehensive educational curriculum that supports academic enrichment and personal growth and development for each student, utilizing youth development principles for programs, curriculum, and evaluations.

o Maintaining compliance within certain grant cycles.

2. Staff Management and Training:

o Assisting the VPP in recruiting, training, and developing qualified staff.

o Providing ongoing support and professional growth opportunities for program staff, leading a diverse team to administer operations of enrichment program.

o Ensuring all site staff have appropriate trauma-informed training to so that they can use trauma-formed techniques to address student behavioral issues in a way that does not cause further harm to children who have experienced significant traumas.

o Ensuring site staff compliance with budget, administrative process, and compliance requirements.

o Attend community meeting forums and trainings to stay abreast of best practices in OST services as needed.

o Oversee all Site Coordinators (currently four).

3. Participant Engagement and Support:

o Building positive relationships and communicating professionally with participants, families, partners, and other community stakeholders,

o Implementing strategies to foster inclusivity and respect within the program.

4. Administrative Duties:

o Aiding in budget management and cost-effective solutions.

o Assist the VPP with collecting, aggregating, and maintaining accurate records to track program outcomes and progress.

5. Health and Safety Compliance:

o Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and licensing regulations for a secure environment.

6. Other tasks as assigned by the CEO or VPP, including conducting afterschool and summer activities as needed.

Position requires: (1) Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Coursework must include Counseling Children/Adolescents, Human Growth and Development, and Culturally Responsive Education. (2) 24 months of experience in a position involving coordination of after-school programs for elementary students, including each of the following: (a) Utilizing youth development principles for educational enrichment programs, curriculum, and evaluations. (b) Using trauma-informed techniques to address behavioral problems with children who have experienced significant traumas. (c) Working with and leading a diverse team to coordinate day-to-day operations of enrichment program. (d) Communicating professionally with participants, families, staff, and partners. (e) Ensuring compliance with budget, administrative process, and compliance requirements. (f) Working with diverse cultures to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of programming. (3) Weekly local travel to visit program sites to monitor activities; occasional regional and national travel for training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
