Job Title: Y’s Buys Thrift Boutique Store ManagerReports To: Chief Executive Officer

Salary: $23.00-$24.00/hr ($47,840-$49,920/Year) DOE

Hours: Full-time (40 hours a week)

Benefits package: 12 days of accrued paid annual leave, 12 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday. Health/Dental/Vision Insurance and retirement benefits.

Y’s Buys Thrift Boutique Store Manager Position Summary

The Store Manager oversees the daily activities and plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of Y’s Buys Thrift Boutique. This position will work independently, opening and closing the store, receiving, and processing donations from the community, assist customers in a way that builds store loyalty and will support volunteers. This full-time role is responsible for turnover of clothing between seasons and optimizing sale opportunities. This position supervises one paid part-time employee and many volunteers.

All proceeds from the Y’s Buys Thrift Boutique directly support the YWCA Housing Programs.

Responsibilities and Duties

This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties that must be performed in this position.

  • Provide leadership and direction to all volunteers and ensure a clear focus on the store’s mission.
  • Provide exemplary customer service and resolve customer issues to their overall satisfaction.
  • Maintain merchandise in a neat, organized fashion using an inviting visual plan.
  • Identify maintenance needs and communicate them with YWCA Property Manager.
  • Keep the store clean, organized, and safe.
  • Accept donations and administer receipts.

· Identify opportunities for process improvements, then design and implement new systems.

  • Carry out directives given by the CEO.
  • Work directly with Development Committee, Admin and Marketing Communications Manager, and CEO during coordination of fundraising events.

· Advertise and recruit volunteers for store.

· Work with YWCA Admin Manager to monitor clothing vouchers for the community.

· Work with YWCA Admin & Marketing Communications Manager and Social Media Consultant on Y’s Buys social media presence.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual with a high degree of enthusiasm for the job.
  • Must be an honest individual with integrity.
  • Ability to effectively handle merchandise activities.
  • Ability to cope under pressure posed by customers.
  • Ability to handle inventory control procedures and product stocking.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to relate with customers, fellow workers, volunteers, and management effectively.

· Work as a team player, fill in for others as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned. This position will regularly be called on to assist with various tasks.
  • Represent the YWCA at all times.

Qualifications

· Associates degree or equivalent or three years of successful work history.

· Thrift and/or retail experience.

· Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to change.

· Must be a hard worker with a positive attitude;

· Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

· Must have a Criminal Background Check clear of violent crimes, theft, or crimes against individuals.

· Must be able to climb flights of stairs; lift and carry supplies, and donations typically weighing up to 25 pounds;

· Lived experience and marginalized communities are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Knowledge:

· CPR/First Aid Certified (can obtain once hired).

· Proficient with MS Office and comfortable learning new software.

· Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to the completion of tasks.

· Ability to communication effectively verbally and in writing.

· Understand issues of gender and race discrimination, homelessness, and poverty.

· Support the mission and values of the YWCA Bellingham.

· Basic math skills for preparation of deposits.
