Job Summary
The Facilitator for Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is responsible for delivering evidence-based training to individuals empowering participants to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in youth. The facilitator will foster a supportive learning environment, adapt materials to diverse audiences, and inspire confidence in participants to act as Mental Health First Aiders. Certification to facilitate this training is mandatory and will be paid 100% by YWCA Mankato.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate up to eight Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training sessions following the guidelines and curriculum throughout 2025.
- Educate participants on key topics, such as:
- Understanding youth mental health challenges and stigma.
- Identifying risk factors and warning signs of mental health or substance use issues.
- Providing initial support and connecting youth to appropriate resources.
- Engage participants using interactive methods such as role-plays, group discussions, and case studies.
- Ensure all training is conducted with cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.
- Collect and report participant feedback to improve training delivery and materials.
- Maintain certification as a Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer and participate in required professional development.
- Stay up-to-date on current mental health research, trends, and local resources.
Qualifications
- Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer (or willingness to obtain certification prior to start date).
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with experience in delivering training to diverse groups.
- Knowledge of youth mental health challenges, crisis intervention strategies, and community resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage group dynamics and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- [Preferred] Background in education, social work, counseling, or public health.
- [Preferred] Experience working with youth in community, educational, or clinical settings.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $40.00 per hour
