About the Role
As a Structural Drafter at Z Modular, you will play a key role in producing detailed structural drawings for a variety of projects, converting CAD drawings into Revit models while ensuring adherence to building codes and standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in Revit, and the ability to collaborate with architects and engineers. You will directly contribute to high-quality design documentation and the success of modular building projects.
You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders, ensuring that all structural drawings meet design intent, quality standards, and building code requirements. This is an on-site role located in Troy, MI.

- Produces structural design and construction documents using Revit – Ensures accuracy and compliance with industry standards and building codes.
- Creates shop drawings for steel fabrication and construction – Supports the production of high-quality fabrication documents for structural components.
- Develops plans, sections, elevations, and details for structural design and construction – Translates architectural designs into accurate and buildable structural drawings.
- Generates detailed drawings for automated welding robots – Creates specific plans for robotic processes in fabrication, increasing efficiency and precision.
- Understands building systems, codes, and construction methods – Applies knowledge of industry best practices and construction standards to ensure compliant designs.
- Fosters a collaborative team atmosphere – Works closely with architects and engineers to align structural design with architectural intent and project goals.
- Converts CAD drawings/layouts into Revit models – Ensures the accuracy and completeness of structural drawings in Revit format for all project phases.
- Generates schedules and bills of materials – Helps streamline project execution by providing accurate material take-offs and schedules.
- Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy – Ensures compliance with safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned – Supports the team as needed, ensuring project goals are met on time and within scope.
- 2 years of experience in structural drafting, preferably with experience in modular construction or steel fabrication.
- Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, Drafting Technology, or CAD (preferred).
- Any combination of relevant education and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the essential functions of the role.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Familiarity with BIM drafting techniques, standards, and software – Strong understanding of Revit and its application in structural drafting.
- Understanding of construction detailing and common construction techniques – Knowledge of how to detail structures for various stages of construction.
- Knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods – Familiarity with local and national building codes and industry standards.
- Ability to quickly learn company-specific BIM standards and procedures – Willingness to adapt to internal protocols and software updates.
- Proficiency in Revit – Skilled in using Revit to produce detailed structural drawings.
- Strong organizational skills – Capable of managing multiple assignments and deadlines efficiently.
- Clear and precise written and verbal communication – Able to communicate complex technical details effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Problem-solving ability – Demonstrates initiative in identifying issues and finding solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously – Comfortable working on various tasks and meeting project deadlines.

Work Environment
Work will be conducted in an office environment with a controlled climate, involving standard office equipment and tasks, and requires a professional demeanor and effective communication with colleagues. Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer, including repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Proficiency in handling office equipment and moving around the office.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Good visual acuity for reading screens and documents.
