SUMMARY

The Quality Director leads and supports manufacturing operations in achieving goals for quality systems, factory quality, and customer quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  • QMS / QOS: Owns, maintains, and continuously improves the Quality Management System / Quality Operating System for the Organization.
  • Quality Metrics: Owns, establishes, deploys, and tracks performance critical to establishing quality goals for the organization. Ensures intelligent data collection to lend itself to root cause corrective actions to minimize the potential for repeat.
  • Document Control: Establishes owns and maintains the Document Control system, related processes, and their deployment across the organization. Drives the organization to standardize policies and procedures.
  • Interfaces with all levels of the organization to ensure that quality goals are being met.
  • Monitors new product launches to ensure quality parameters are established and met.
  • Statistics: Understanding of statistics, SPC, DOE and uses Statistical Process Control to identify areas to monitor process health, improvement and provides quality data / analysis to process owners, managers, and executive team.
  • Customer and Internal Audits: Is the system owner and primary contact for customer requested audits / assessments. Establishes and owns the internal audit system, related training, deployment, and positive results across the organization.
  • ISO: Owns and maintains the ISO system and health for the organization. Is responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with ISO certification and other certifications as requested.
  • Customer Approved Processing Lists: Owns, maintains, and communicates a system for ensuring alignment with customer approved processes. Is the system owner to maintain quality compliance to customer specified processes.
  • Responsible for internal auditing and follow-up.
  • Trains employees on the quality policies.
  • COQ: Establishes, owns, and maintains the “Cost of Quality” related metrics, reporting, training, and deployment across the organization.
  • Drives plant to standardize policies and procedures.
  • Supervises document control system.
  • Ensure that the plant has the following in place and is using effectively:
  • Quality management system which is utilized as a management tool to achieve continual improvement.
  • The quality documentation is properly implemented and maintained.
  • Regular management reviews and follow-through with CARS
  • An effective supplier continuous improvement program
  • Detailed goals to achieve quality objectives.
  • Standard metrics for manufacturing and suppliers
  • Manages all processes related to ITAR compliance.
  • Primary responsibility to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance related to the quality system within the company.
  • RMA: Owns and continuously improves the Returned Material Authorization process. Primary decision maker for issuing RMA approvals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and

applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Experience in establishing successful internal auditing procedures and follow-up.
  • Knowledge of ITAR requirements and experience in managing the ITAR process.
  • Computer utilization skills, including PC based programs.
  • Proficient with Excel, Pivot Tables, Pareto Charts and graphs
  • Knowledge of MRP functions and techniques as related to quality and training.
  • Ability to manage and lead direct reports effectively.
  • The ability and skills to establish and maintain priorities.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to determine improvement needs from that data.
  • Regular and consistent job attendance required, with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with the ADA.

MUST HAVES TO BE CONSIDERED:

  • Able to manage, mentor and develop a team of direct and indirect reports
  • Able to communicate effectively via verbal and written
  • Able to think analytically and have a strong mathematical background
  • Able to create Pareto charts and graphs to communicate data gathered
  • Have at least 5 years management experience in manufacturing, preferably in quality

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college and 3-5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Quality field. Internal Auditing Training and Certification required.

CERTIFICATIONS

Internal Auditor Certification preferred.

Certified Quality Director preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and to do statistical analysis.
