Zingerman’s Roadhouse
Busser/Event Staff
The busser is responsible for delivering the Zingerman’s Roadhouse experience to all guests and fellow staff by adhering to sanitation and safety policies; clearing and cleaning tables, chairs, and common areas; keeping beverage glasses full, offering bread service to guests, and reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and Front of House Managers.
Part-Time, up to 27 hours per week Full-Time, up to 40 hours per week, including Weekends and Holidays. Typical shifts are 8am-4pm. Candidates must be able to work a minimum of two shifts per week. Must be available on Saturdays
Compensation: Busser: $5.50/hr tips (avg $14/hour )
Our Performance Expectations are:
Essential Functions:
- Arrives on time for all shifts, meetings, and classes.
- Clears and resets tables up to the Roadhouse time and cleanliness standards.
- Owns their designated room effectively, making sure each table gets bread and water.
- Acts as a team player with the servers in their room and the other bussers on shift.
- Can hustle and move quickly throughout the Roadhouse without seeming chaotic or frantic.
- Follows the busser priority list.
- Maintains a clean dining room and service stations.
- Consistently completes end of night side work and running side work.
- Manages bread throughout the shift- making sure there is always bread ready and not burnt.
Other Functions:
- Follows the training compact and takes responsibility for his or her training.
- Follows the three steps to great service and the five steps to handling a customer complaint you will learn through your training.
- Attends and participates in weekly huddles and/or is responsible for knowing Roadhouse key measures and numbers.
- Follows the staff member guidelines.
- Follows the Roadhouse table maintenance systems for marking, pre-bussing, setting, etc.
- Documents all code reds and code greens.
- Takes initiative to help in other areas of the Roadhouse as needed.

- Serves food and beverages carrying large, heavy trays
- Sets up and tears down events including tables, chairs, place settings, linens, buffets
- Stocks and replenishes food stations/buffet tables
- Assists bartenders as needed, including serving beer and wine on occasion
- Busses tables and works to keep guest spaces clean and tidy
The Success Patterns for this position are:
- Has one to three years experience as a busser in a high-end service environment is a plus.
- Has a reputation for excellent relations with guests and front and back of house staff.
- Has worked effectively as part of a team.
- Has successfully managed guest's dining experience in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- Bending, stooping, walking, and standing for long periods at a time.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs (i.e. heavy trash bags, full racks of glassware, replacing syrup boxes for soda fountain, etc).
- Shoveling and salting outside during winter months (as needed)
- Must be able to balance and carry a tray with drinks and/or dishes.
