What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Research Compliance Fellowship position at Zintellect?
The U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), a subordinate laboratory of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), is an internationally recognized center of excellence for Warfighter performance science and its practical applications. USARIEM is seeking a part-time applicant with an earned doctorate.
During this part-time, six-month appointment, you will learn the processes involved in human research subject oversight and approvals and the processes involved in human subjects research protection in the U.S. Army/ Department of Defense. As part of this experience, you will engage with both the Thermal & Mountain Medicine Division as well as the Office of Research Quality and Compliance at USARIEM. Additional learning experiences include, but are not limited to:
- Learning research protocols associated with exposure to extreme environments of heat, cold, and high terrestrial altitude.
- Gaining experience with protocol writing, data organization, and data analysis.

What is the anticipated start date?
Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.
Appointment Length
This appointment is a six-month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
What are the benefits?
You will receive a stipend, which will be determined by the Department of Defense (DoD). Stipends are typically based on a participant's academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.
