What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Dietitian Fellowship position at Zintellect?
The United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), located in Natick, Massachusetts, The Military Nutrition Division (MND) is seeking an MS-level dietitian to participate in the execution of randomized controlled trials that examine the impact of nutrition, exercise, dietary supplements, and pharmacological interventions for Warfighters during periods of low energy availability while exposed to military operational stress.
As an ORISE participant, you will be engaged with the Military Nutrition Division (MND) in conducting research on nutritional issues affecting the health and mission readiness of military personnel. The facility contains environmental chambers for controlling temperature and humidity, an environmentally controlled hypobaric chamber, a water immersion laboratory, and several dry and wet laboratories.
Under the guidance of a mentor, you will gain experience to complement your education and support your academic and professional goals. This appointment will expose you to research and protocols in the research program of a USARIEM, Including:
- Prescribing research diets
- Data collection from exercise testing.
- Indirect calorimetry calculations
- Stable isotope methodologies
- Biological sampling
- Analyzing and interpreting data

What is the anticipated start date?
Possible start date for this opportunity will be November 1, 2023. Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and fellowships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.
What is the appointment length?
Appointments are initially for one year, with the option to extend the appointment for up to four additional years, contingent upon project needs and funding availability.
