What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping QC position at Zip-O-Laminators?
SUMMARY:
Performs tasks associated with that of a Tallyman. Complies with all company safety rules and regulations. Demonstrates the ability to be a part of the production team by communicating and working within the parameters of the production department under the direction of the department supervisor.
The success of our company requires that we have accurate tallies on our lumber. We need accurate tallies on our mill run lumber for accounting, planning, and scheduling. We need accurate tallies on our finished product so that we have accurate shipments. It is your responsibility to provide accurate tallies.
Our success depends upon providing accurate and timely shipments. It is your responsibility to organize and monitor the accumulation of items on the orders. Communicate any problems and shortages to your supervisor. We strive to provide on time and accurate shipments. In this competitive environment it is crucial that we provide this service to our customers. (if we dont someone else will).
The success of our company depends upon our operational efficiency. Every effort must be made to help out and do whatever it takes to accomplish our goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Includes but is not limited to the following:
- Ensure that damaged or poor quality products are not sent to shipping.
- Ensure that packages sent to shipping are proper size, grade, marked and banded correctly.
- Maintain orderly packaging schedules, plan daily packaging, turn tally tickets to shipping as soon as possible.
- Tally as needed.
- Provide accurate tallies for all products.
- Tally toward orders, notify supervisor when complete.
- Organize and monitor the accumulation of items on the orders.
- Help ensure that all employees maintain a safe working environment and safe working habits.
- Report any potential machinery defects immediately.
- Report any potential safety risks immediately.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Downtime is clean-up and minor maintenance time.

- Must have working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisor.

- Must be willing to fill in on off shift and overtime when required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Previous sawmill experience is required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and write and the ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.

The environmental factors are that of the season. Exposure to heat, rain, cold, snow is a daily occurrence due to some work is performed outside.
