Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Manage all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and reported in compliance with accounting standards.
- Oversee and manage multi-jurisdictional sales tax compliance, including accurate calculation, filing, and payment of sales taxes across various states and regions.
- Stay updated on changing sales tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant in all jurisdictions.
- Process payroll accurately and on time.
- Work with external CPA to create accurate tax estimates and ensure timely payment of estimated taxes and other regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with the renewals specialist to ensure customer renewals are invoiced accurately and align with contract terms.
- Monitor revenue recognition and confirm that services are provided only with valid renewals.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support the CEO's strategic decision-making.
- Partner with external CPA for tax filings, audits, and year-end financial reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Independently assess and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices for handling financial data and responding to customer requests.
- Supervise and mentor two team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and fostering their professional growth.
- Manage financial data using ZOHO Books for tracking, reporting, and overall accounting management.
Educational Background:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience in small- mid-sized businesses.
- Proven expertise in managing multi-jurisdictional sales tax compliance.
- Proficient in ZOHO Books and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Familiarity with financial reporting tools and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks independently and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator capable of working closely with the CEO, external CPA, and other stakeholders.
- Experience managing and mentoring a small team.
- Salary Range: $68,000 - $82,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications).
