Position Title: Seasonal Kids Kingdom Zooterpreter
Department: Conservation Education
Reports To: Interpretation Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Purpose:
Enhances the guest experience through interpretation in various areas throughout Kids Kingdom, including Outback Adventure Aviary, Kangaroo Crossing & Wallaby Way, Backyard Explorer, Goat & Sheep Yard, & Discovery Plaza.
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitors exhibit-based guest-animal interactions with an emphasis on safety, engagement, and animal wellbeing.
- Facilitates pathway traffic flow within exhibits and ambassador animal walkthrough areas.
- Engages guests by presenting yard animals, biofacts, and/or props with a friendly, approachable, and informative demeanor.
- Communicates with others effectively and immediately when responding to an incident or emergency, including but not limited to lost children, first aid, or unusual animal behavior.
- Assists keeper staff with cleaning, yard maintenance, and animal observations.
- Maintains and upholds park cleanliness including sweeping pathways, cleaning viewing windows, refilling hand sanitizer, and reporting issues in a timely fashion.
- Assists with all emergency response protocols.
- Inspect Kids Kingdom areas for safety items on a daily basis and report issues in a timely manner.

Provides excellent customer service in the areas of guest relations and park beautification:
- Answers visitor inquiries or finds someone who can;
- Is knowledgeable of location of exhibits, restrooms, concessions, rentals, etc.
- Disposes of litter and waste throughout the park and zoo facilities.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
Position requires a high school education or equivalent, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong presentation & public engagement skills preferred. Must be comfortable discussing topics relevant to the Zoo and wildlife conservation to a wide variety of audiences.
Physical Requirements:
Position is primarily located outdoors, especially in the peak season. Candidate must have the ability to work in an outdoor area involving uneven or slippery surfaces. Position is physical and requires the ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, squat, push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 lbs. This list is not inclusive.
