The Position:

The Wind Turbine Maintenance Tech-Level II independent contractor role includes performing routine maintenance on wind turbines. This role will require travel between assigned projects. Below are the responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the maintenance and assembly terminology and processes.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Performs troubleshooting and repairs on wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Recognizes the occurrences of wind turbine error codes and appropriately reports the problem.
• Provides support in the removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.
• Provides support with heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.
• Perform component retrofits and upgrades.
• Engage with clients and team leaders.
• Provide quality services to customers.
• Performs maintenance and repairs of wind turbine controllers.
• Complete required reports and other paperwork, including computer data entry as needed.
• Provide support in maintenance and repair of high-voltage systems.
• Cleaning and maintenance of hydraulic and manual tools.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn troubleshooting and repair of wind turbines.
• Supports in site preparation (i.e. coordination of labor and materials)
• Provides support in rigging, derigging operations, and inspections of equipment.
• Ability to travel between projects.
• Acts responsibly and professionally.
• Utilizes hydraulic tools for torque.
• LOTO (Log out, tag out).
• LPS system/test troubleshooting.
• Collects grease and oil samples.
• Laser alignment (Generator and pitch system).
• Inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbines.
• Maintenance of switchgear, pitch systems, yaw, generator, CCU and other turbine components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Provide support on other wind turbine systems, including substations and underground transmission systems.
• Experience with GE, Vestas, Nordex and/or Siemens turbines.
• Experience working with GE, Vestas Nordex and/or Siemens SCADA systems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

Minimum requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 3-5 years of experience in the wind industry.
• Certified GWO required.
• Any O&M wind industry certificate.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

• Knowledge of Technical Trade, Maintenance, Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Operations is strongly preferred.
• Adaptable to changing priorities and evolving needs.
• Experience with blade repair highly preferred.
• GE LOTO Certificate highly preferred.
• Mechanical and electrical O&M wind energy skills.
• Certificate and/or Associates of Applied Science in Wind Turbine Technology highly preferred.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to climb 60-125 meters in height, ability to lift, push/pull and carry items up to 50 lbs., and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools, turbine parts, comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters and use equipment with a maximum weight capacity of 300 lb.
• Having efficient field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors.
• Able to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.
