Part Time Instructor
Description

This position will be teaching for Medical Assistant program courses.
Part Time Faculty normally teach one or two courses per semester. Teaching assignments may be available for day and evening courses. Compensation is based on the total contact hours taught per semester, starting at $644 per contact hour. Benefits include State of Michigan retirement plan, tuition waiver and free membership to the ACC Wellness Center.
Position Responsibilities

1. Teach lecture and laboratory portion of courses in the Medical Assistant program
2. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students
3. Evaluate student progress through appropriate tools
4. Maintain instructional laboratories and equipment
5. Participate in curriculum activities
6. Participate in committee assignments, program advisory committee activities, and departmental activities including recruitment of students
7. Maintain a high level of academic competency through professional development activities
8. Stay current with AMT and AAMA program requirements
9. Maintain medical assistant credential
10. Review new Standards and Guidelines and implement
11. Ensure that all required information is displayed in course syllabi
12. Maintain records of student competency completion and requirements
13. Review students' records for completion of requirements in courses
14. Must maintain knowledge of current medical assisting practices to the standards of AAMA and AMT

Position Requirements

Position Qualifications

1. Must be credentialed in good standing in Medical Assisting as a CMA(AAMA) or RMA(AMT)
2. At least three years of employment in a healthcare facility working as a clinical medical assistant
3. At least one year of experience teaching postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education or Instruction in educational theory and techniques preferred
4. Familiarity with the most current version of Windows, MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer
5. Experience with practice management software and Electronic Health Records
6. Excellent working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
7. Strong ability to understand and use medical terminology
8. Knowledge of PPE usage; disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials; sterilization; and asepsis
9. Strong familiarity with medications prescribed in the medical office both generic and brand names
10. Knowledge of and familiarity using pharmaceutical resources for dosages, drug names, side effects, contraindications, treatment options, class, warnings, etc.
11. Experience with Escribing
12. Ability to perform dosage calculations and to convert between measurement systems
13. Knowledge of vaccines and vaccine schedules
14. Experience administering injections
