open until filled This vacancy is for a full-time Paraprofessional (Personal Care Assistant) position at Susquehannock High School. The position will work 6.5 hours/day, 181 days/year. The tentative hours are 7:30am to 2:30 pm. The position works all scheduled student days during the school year. The starting rate is $16.80 per hour for the 2024-2025 school year. This position has full benefits available including medical, dental, vision, retirement, sick days, and personal days. The District’s paraprofessionals support the classroom teacher and building and a personal care assistant also works directly with an individual student for needs. They assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional programs and supportive services.
Experience working with emotional support, autistic support, life skills, and learning support students is preferred. At a minimum, a high school diploma is required. All paraprofessionals are required to become highly qualified. Applicant must be able to document their competence and mastery of basic skills and knowledge necessary to work with students by either passing the state approved CAPE Test (Title I Highly Qualified through Master Teacher, which the district will provide the opportunity for) or having at least an Associate's degree or equivalent college credits. In addition, Paraprofessionals must maintain their highly qualified status by completing 20 hours of training per school year.
