Purpose

Under the direction of the Marketing Manager, organize the various components of departmental projects and liaise with colleagues throughout the organization to ensure project success. This includes monitoring daily tasks and communication, as well as creating reports and updates for members of management. Marketing Coordinator will also compose copy to be used across a range of media including printed materials, digital advertising, website, and press releases. Execute all activities with the highest standards for safety, customer service, and in keeping with the Nature Center’s Mission, Values and Principles.

Essential Job Responsibilities

PROJECT COORDINATION (50%)

  • Manage all aspects of Cincinnati Nature Center’s communications including, copywriting, editing, layout, photos, and other needs in collaboration with other departments.
  • Plan and manage team goals, project schedules, and new information to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Communicate project deliverables, objectives and timelines to the interdepartmental team to keep workflow on track
  • Anticipate potential hurdles and develop solutions
  • Coordinate the production of the quarterly news magazine, Newsleaf
  • Prepare reports for marketing initiatives demonstrating progress towards project completion

COPYWRITING (40%)

  • Compose original written content for publications such as the quarterly magazine, Newsleaf, press releases, weekly e-blasts, wayfinding and exhibit signage
  • Utilize Brand Guidelines to ensure consistency of brand voice
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designer to ensure copy fits the needs of the project
  • Create and implement highly engaging online posts, promotional initiatives and strategic messaging through electronic social media such as Facebook, YouTube, blogs, etc.
  • Submit program listings/descriptions to various online regional media calendars and business directories.

PROOFREADING (10%)

  • Review and proofread written materials from across the organization, including articles, blog posts, marketing collateral, reports, and website content, ensuring they are free from grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies in tone, style, and voice within a given piece of content.
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s branding guidelines and editorial standards.

Education and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience in journalism, communications, marketing, and/or digital media

Communication:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Confident and comfortable working with inter-departmental teams
  • Excellent editorial skills and commitment to driving quality in communication deliverables from all staff

Qualifications:

  • Collaborative working style and creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills, especially in planning and project management, and attention to detail
  • Solid customer service skills
  • Ability and desire to learn
  • A sense of humor, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • General interest in nature and the environment
  • Must pass a background check and remain current on first aid/CPR certification

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Word, Power Point, Excel and other related software
  • Experience with all forms of social media, basic webpage design and terminology

Work Environment:

The work is performed on-site, indoors in an office environment and outdoors in the nature preserve.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
