**Animal Care Taker and Kennel Attendant**

In joining our team at Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, you'll play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our animal clientele. You will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of our facility, ensuring the well-being and comfort of the animals under our care. This position may operate through our animal shelter, and/or through our boarding and daycare programs dependent on an applicant's individual knowledge and interests.

**Responsibilities**

- Provide compassionate and attentive care to animals in the kennel facility

- Monitor animal behavior and health, assisting with animal handling, feeding, medicating, and enrichment routines

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kennel area and provide support in maintaining accurate records of animal intake, behavior, and health status

- Collaborate with other staff for animal care needs and ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures

- Interact with and provide exceptional customer service to visitors, volunteers, and the like while at our facility and/or special events

**Experience and Qualifications**

- Applicants must be 18 years or older and have transportation to arrive for their shifts as scheduled. A high school diploma or equivilent is required and applicants with additional knowledge and/or training in the fields of biology, animal sciences, zoology, pre-veterinary, etc. are preferred.

-Applicants must be reliable and have a mission driven mindset. This position requires heavily dependable individuals as our responsiblities are endless at the shelter and the animals depend on us for their care and wellbeing. An unwaivering commitment to animals and their compassionate care is required. Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays is also required.

-Applicants must be able to work effectively in a team environment and have an understanding of superb customer service. Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately is required.

- Experience in animal care or related field is preferred but applicants must have a knowledge of general animal care and husbandry. Familiarity with kennel operations and animal restraint techniques is also preferred.
