Gay Men's Health Crisis is Hiring a Residence Manager Near New York, NY

Description

The Residence Manager is responsible for the provision and coordination of entitlements management and housing stability for clients who are formerly homeless. Responsible to ensure compliance with contract services and all clients are actively engaged in services based on client need. The Housing Specialist will work closely with the Director of Property Management to ensure clients are adequately housed and that the apartments meet all requirements and standards of GMHC.

Essential Job Functions

The following are mandatory requirements of the job:

  • Provide a range of client related services including but not limited to employment search, career advancement, financial services, benefits and entitlements processing, renewal, and support, etc.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining internal and external reporting systems such as TREAT, and AWARDS, with required client services and property management information.
  • Assist Director of Property Management with managing client and housing residence census.
  • Support case management team with the onboarding and offboarding of clients.
  • Assist clients to maintain their housing permanence by monitoring and collecting monthly rent payments.
  • Complete apartment inspections and home visits throughout the 5 boroughs as needed.
  • Work with the Director of Property Management on resolving rental discrepancies, general complaints, and apartment repairs.
  • Act as liaison between client, HRA, HUD, HPD, landlord, etc. to ensure best housing relations between all parties as needed.
  • Assist with building ongoing positive relationships as well as identify new landlords, brokers, and management companies.
  • Complete all required paperwork by established deadlines: HMIS reports, client income reports, home visit documentation, apartment inspection forms and all other documentation as assigned.
  • Monitoring of real estate market and ongoing trends.
  • Attend and participate in case conferences with client and providers as needed.
  • Attend all GMHC meetings and events as assigned

Other Responsibilities

The following duties are to be performed as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participate in CQI Projects, Dashboard Management and Special Projects as assigned.
  • Complete monthly reports.
  • Assist with Annual GMHC Audit.

Requirements

Education and Certification

  • High School Diploma, or its educational equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with clients with a history of housing-related issues
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Special Skills and Knowledge

In addition to the above-listed job responsibilities and educational requirements, the ideal candidate for this position possesses most or all of the following:

  • Knowledge of housing resources related to housing stability
  • Extensive knowledge utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work within a fast – paced, data –driven, performance-based environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface with a variety of internal and external colleagues
  • Extensive experience working with individuals with HIV/AIDS, substance use issues and mental health needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of interdisciplinary team
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
