Integrated DX is Hiring a Medical Laboratory Specimen Processor/Accessioner Near Richmond, KY

Laboratory Specimen Accessioner

This position is for a Specimen Accesioner for a laboratory in current development/production/build-out stages for operating as a High Complexity Reference Laboratory. The job will entail performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry, as well as customer service duties including resolving specimen problems. The ideal applicant will have the following skills and experience:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and proficiency in laboratory specimen receiving, accessioning, data entry, test ordering, and sample handling
  • Good data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Effectively demonstrate good laboratory skills
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and other regulatory agency standards within area of responsibility
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
  • Basic computer skills, experience with laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients

Minimum Education/Experience: Must meet or exceed minimum education/experience requirements below:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year previous specimen processing experience preferred

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient demographics, diagnosis codes, tests ordered. Performs all paperwork, technical, and nontechnical procedures required to process and submit specimens.
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
  • Provide customer service to ordering locations

Required education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
